Uber Technologies stepped into the AI world with the launch of its AI assistant powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology. They are ready to transform into electric vehicles using AI assistants as part of their commitment to sustainability.

On October 8, 2024, at Uber’s “Go-Get Zero” event in London, they officially launched the initiative. They want to expedite the use of EVs among their drivers.

The AI assistant will also provide personalized guidance tailored to drivers based on location. It includes details on local incentives and support programs available for transitioning to EVs.

The chatbot is scheduled to debut in the US next year and will later spread to other regions.

In early 2025, the business plans to broaden the chatbot’s use to answer questions other than those about EVs.

Every month, over 180,000 Uber drivers in North America and Europe are switching to electric vehicles.

CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said,

“Uber drivers are adopting EVs five times faster than the average motorist in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. In London, nearly 30% of all miles driven on Uber are now electric.”

Uber has established a goal of transitioning to completely electric vehicles by 2040, pledging $800 million to assist drivers worldwide.

In addition to the AI assistant, the company wants to launch mentorship programs in which experienced EV drivers will aid others in transitioning by providing real-world ideas and best practices.

They are awarding $50,000 to the finest merchants on their food delivery network to fund their sustainability programs and grow their customer base.

Uber will host pop-up events in several places to provide drivers and passengers with hands-on experience with electric vehicles. Users in London can test out the Lotus Eletre, while those in Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas can book a ride in a Rivian R1.

All big companies are making efforts to keep their users connected by introducing new tech innovations. Meta is also attracting users with its newly launched AI tool, Movie Gen, which can generate and edit videos with audio in response to simple text prompts.
